I am reviewing journal entries to post. I would appreciate line numbers and the ability to sort in ascending order since I have found  when an entry is created in the Database version, my journal entry in NXT has the  lines items in the completely opposite order.

That is not true if you are running the general ledger report.  If you have created a journal entry batch it will show the batch number/line number even if it is not posted.  It will not do the same for unposted transactions from other modules as no batch has been established.
