I am a Controller for a church. Where as churches were exempt from showing functional expenses as of 2018 we have to show functional expenses. I was very disappointed to see that Blackbaud did away with functional expenses.  I had used the functional expenses in FE with a few organizations that I worked for previously and the function and reports were great. It was a drop down menu that you could have the expense account  to a specific function and break the functions up by percentages if need be. Now I am being told to use transaction codes or specific account codes. As we have used FE for quite some time we can not change the coding now as we have too many accounts as it is. Transaction codes do not allow percentages.  I will have to look into additional software to take care of functional expenses. Almost every non-profit has to show functional expenses and it is surprising and disappointing that Blackbaud would do away with it.  Please bring this back!!
