Switching between databases is confusing in NXT. Currently, my 4 databases in NXT are listed with the name of one of the databases, followed by our site ID, followed by a number. Each of our databases is a different company, so it's super confusing when the name of one company shows as the company name for the other.
I've run into a few times when I've started entering an invoice in the wrong company because of this confusion.
I checked into this further and one of our teams does have an item on their road map that would allow admins to customize the names that show for their databases. We don't have a timeline on this right now, but if you want to change them to something else now, you can contact our customer support and they can help you change it on a one off basis. Hope this helps!
Thanks for the additional information. It's very helpful! I will check into this field to see how it's made up and whether it makes sense for us to keep the same naming convention or possibly make an adjustment in the way we are storing this information.
Aloha David!
I'd say it's much better than 2016 NXT! :) Each of our databases are separate organizations. It's still weird how it shows the registered organization, followed by the database name.
For example:
Hindu Heritage Endowment - Hindu Heritage Endowment
Hindu Heritage Endowment - Himalayan Academy
Our organizations are not all part of "Hindu Heritage Endowment" as the naming implies. For us, it would be better if that first part, the registered org, was just removed. I'm sure not everyone has that same need.
I know we have made some improvements in this area and believe this is more intuitive now, but please let us know if that is not the case!
