The current Yodlee banking integration within Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT has been unreliable and inconsistent for an extended period of time and continues to create operational inefficiencies and reconciliation challenges.
For the entire three years I have worked with Financial Edge, the Yodlee connection has not functioned properly or consistently. During that time, I have worked directly with both Blackbaud Financial Edge support technicians and Yodlee technicians on multiple occasions with no lasting resolution. Unfortunately, the experience has often resulted in Yodlee attributing the issue to Blackbaud while Blackbaud attributes the issue to Yodlee, leaving customers without a dependable solution.
Bank connectivity is no longer a “nice to have” feature — it is a core operational function within modern financial systems. Organizations rely on stable and secure bank integrations for transaction imports, reconciliations, cash management, and workflow efficiency. When the integration repeatedly disconnects, fails to sync, duplicates transactions, or requires continual troubleshooting, it significantly reduces confidence in the platform and increases manual workload.
Recommendations:
Establish a more stable and actively managed banking integration framework.
Improve accountability and escalation coordination between Blackbaud and Yodlee support teams.
Provide clearer error messaging and diagnostic tools so customers can identify the actual source of failures.
Implement proactive monitoring and alerting for broken or expired bank connections.
Improve transaction synchronization reliability and duplicate prevention controls.
Consider evaluating alternative aggregation providers if Yodlee cannot consistently support the integration expectations of Financial Edge clients.
This issue impacts day-to-day accounting operations and has persisted far too long without a dependable resolution. Reliable banking connectivity is critical for organizations operating in a modern financial environment, and resolving these long-standing integration issues would provide significant operational value to Financial Edge customers.
Our organization utilizes JP Morgan for banking and credit card services and would like to continue working directly with our existing financial institution. Unfortunately, the current Yodlee integration in Financial Edge NXT creates limitations that make credit card management increasingly difficult for organizations with larger card programs.
The most significant challenge is the 20-credit-card limit, which does not adequately support organizations with multiple departments, programs, locations, or authorized cardholders. As organizations grow, credit cards become an important purchasing and operational tool, and the current limitation forces organizations to seek manual workarounds that reduce efficiency and increase administrative burden.
Additionally, reliance on Yodlee's screen-scraping technology introduces unnecessary risk and instability. Connections can fail when banks update websites, change authentication requirements, or implement additional security controls. This often results in interrupted feeds, delayed reconciliations, increased support requests, and additional manual processing.
Blackbaud should consider:
Expanding or eliminating the current 20-card limitation.
Providing direct API-based integrations with major financial institutions, including JP Morgan.
Supporting modern banking connectivity standards rather than relying primarily on screen scraping.
Offering more robust commercial card integration options for organizations with large cardholder populations.
Enhancing feed reliability and reducing maintenance associated with authentication changes and connection failures.
From a financial management and internal control perspective, reliable credit card integrations improve transaction visibility, accelerate month-end close processes, reduce manual data entry, and strengthen audit trails. As nonprofit organizations continue to scale, the current limitations no longer align with the operational realities of modern finance departments.
Investing in direct banking integrations and expanded card support would provide meaningful value to Financial Edge NXT customers while improving security, reliability, and overall user experience.
Yodlee is not a dependable solution. I have been frustrated since moving to NXT in 2021 that a dependable bank feed with our bank cannot be established. I have been using Quickbooks Online for my volunteer work as a church treasurer. I saw there how a dependable and efficient bank feed can work. Surely if Intuit/Quickbooks Online can figure it out, Blackbaud can.
