Yes, this feature is needed in NXT before database is removed.

For adding a new vendor, the new vendor check utility is a great feature, but for those who inherited a data base that needs a lot of cleanup, it was a great feature to be able to merge vendors as errors were found. A lot of data is historical and it doesn't make sense to delete possibly years of invoices, payments, etc. from a duplicate vendor and add it to the other.
