Retain user settings for columns in Activity Tile

When viewing "Activity" in a Project in web view, the user has the ability to add Columns and re-order them. However, the user's settings are not retained in several different ways, which can actually lead to confusion and serious mistakes.

First of all, the 'default' view does not include all types of activity, such that a period's beginning and ending balance don't reconcile to the displayed activity columns (for example "Transfers" is hidden by default).

When a column (such as "Gifts" or "Transfers") is added by the user, the user can then drag columns to re-order them. This is important because the "Ending Balance" column should always be the very last one. Any accountant will expect to see activities in a certain logical order - for example, if one adds "Gifts" and "Transfers", as well as "Change", you would expect to see all the 'activity' columns (Income Statement items) first, then followed by summary "Change", then finally "Ending Balance". But worst of all, this 're-ordering' by the user is NEVER retained. Unlike the 'reset' mentioned above, which is sporadic and unpredictable, the column re-ordering setting is reset very frequently - perhaps even with every new logout/login?

Here's why this is so dangerous. The re-ordering is reset MORE frequently than the setting of which columns are displayed at all. When the order is reset, the system pushes all 'custom added' columns to the very end. The user is trained to look to the right-most column for "Ending Balance", but now the right-most column will be one of the custom added activity groups (such as Gifts, Transfers, or Change). This is really dangerous! Multiple times, my users have gone in, thought they were looking up a Project's balance, and mistakenly viewed a different statistic. This can have really bad consequences for us.

Blackbaud has to get a handle on which 'customizations' in web view are retained, and when. Look, it's one thing to say "we can't control this setting being retained at the moment"... but what's especially dangerous about this case is that you change SOME but not ALL of the particular customization in this one specific Tile. Please do something about it! At least bring some CONSISTENCY to it! We will most assuredly continue to make mistakes until you do.

Thank you.
