General Ledger Query to include Unposted Subledger Items

The General Ledger Query should include Unposted Subledger items within the query, otherwise, you have to create other queries and manually combine them. It would also be helpful to be able to merge queries of different types, as there is no point in merging queries of the same type when you can just add it to the query you already have and save.

In Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT, query functionality is currently limited by module-specific structures and inconsistent access to unposted transactions. This prevents users from generating a single, complete view of financial activity across the system.

Today, users must run multiple queries (GL, AP, Procurement, Projects) and manually reconcile results to understand total activity. This creates:

    • Inefficiencies and reliance on external tools (Excel)

    • Increased risk of incomplete or inconsistent reporting

    • Limited visibility into valid, approved, but unposted transactions (e.g., POs, invoices)

    Proposed Enhancement:

    • Enable one unified query across all modules

    • Add a parameter: “Include Unposted Activity: Yes/No”

    • Clearly flag transaction status (Posted vs. Unposted)

    Impact:

    • Provides a complete, real-time view of financial activity and commitments

    • Reduces manual workarounds and reconciliation effort

    • Improves data transparency and audit readiness

    • Aligns Financial Edge with modern ERP reporting capabilities

This is a foundational improvement that would significantly enhance usability, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency across all organizations using multiple modules.
