Bring back ability to preview reports!

The recent "improvements" to the reporting functionality within Financial Edge NXT ("Streamlined" Report Generation) really missed the mark. While it is useful to have a generated report available in the system for a period of time, it is a HUGE step backward to eliminate the ability to preview a report before deciding whether or not you want to download it to your computer. I don't necessarily want every report I run to be downloaded to my computer; sometimes I just want to look at it. What about sending it to a report queue where you can preview it when completed, and then decide whether or not to export?

Echoing another comment that the new "Preview PDF" doesn't improve anything. You still need to download it so why even bother implementing it?

Also forgot to mention how it can be quite frustrating when you want to run a series of reports and just preview them to get the info needed, but if you miss the notification pop up to download, you have to exit the report and re-enter all of the report parameters. I don't want to save every report I run or else I would have many unnecessary saved reports in the system.

I noticed that there is now an option to generate a "Preview PDF", yet it still makes you download the PDF....which doesn't change anything. Please please bring back the ability to preview as it was before. I don't want to download every report. It causes such a lack of efficiency.

I'm sorry but how is this not fixed yet? We used to have this and now we have to wait for a PDF download every time we want to look at a report. Such a time waste and my Download folder is overflowing. PLEASE FIX!!!!!

We need the preview option to return!

Why is it taking so long to restore this functionality? I sometimes run reports and just need to see a preview of a fund balance, etc. I shouldn't have to download 30 reports and open each one to see a total, or even if the filters are correct. We need preview restored!

Is there any progress on this idea? This has been an issue for users for several months now, and is obviously a popular request...is there any ETA on a fix?

I agree with all the comments below!!! There are more steps more "clicks" than ever just to get to see one simple report or to print one check. The system is so frustrating!!!

NXT has set us back years, everything takes longer. Especially previously using FE which was a great system. Yet we were sold that everything would be the same, it is NOT THE SAME AT ALL. We did not have time to shop for other systems because of this lie. I would never recommend NXT.

This is one of the worst "upgrades" I have seen lately for FENXT. The ability to preview reports before deciding whether or not to export and save them was huge. Taking this away makes no sense whatsoever. We have a number of non-finance people who work in FENXT and this change took them all by surprise, and swamped our tiny finance team with questions to the point we are able to get little else done. Please bring this back asap.

Wholeheartedly agreed! I also need to work from my phone at times, and due to this "improvement" after looking at the information I need I then have to dig through my phone to find the file and delete it. This was a HUGE misstep on Blackbaud's part.

YES!!! I am SOOO frustrated with this "improvement" ... if you miss the brief popup showing your report is ready it goes to notifications, but you have to either open another tab to get it or close the report you're working on because you can't click the reminder icon when a report parameter is open.

Totally agree on the downloading of every single report just to see if it's what you need - waste of disk space and just one more thing to have to go back and clean up.

I'm very relieved to see that this is in progress. Thank you Blackbaud for listening and making this change!

Another step backwards today, instead of opening up a preview PDF in a separate window as it was doing before, the reports are simply downloading again with no preview AT ALL! We need to be able to see the reports PRIOR to downloading, why waste our download space for reports that we don't even know if we need until we look at them?

Check printing as well - I have had to void several checks due to incorrect addresses that I could correct when there was a preview function! Adds so much work to the process.

Agreed! It's so annoying PDFs pop up in a separate window. it also took away the feature to jump to pages by fields like general ledger. huge downgrade

AND...when you generate it, you literally have to wait on the screen for it to pop up that it's ready - because it disappears and you have to re run it!

I certainly hope the previewed reports available include the Pre-Reconciliation Report in the Treasury/Banking module. It only makes sense to be able to fix items previously missed by reviewing the reconciliation report before "pushing the button"! Please, please, please!!!
