Our company currently has 1750 active vendors amongst 53 programs (7k plus vendors in total that we can reopen if we use them again) and we've been with Blackbaud since 2004, in business since 1979. Some vendors have to have own account numbers per vendor # due to the mass volume of invoices/orders. We cannot pay one vendor for multiple accounts because they get misapplied by the vendors and/or payment went to wrong address. Hence reason why we are currently still trying to unravel the tangle of combining all vendors into one like we did with HD. We had to separate the vendors once again. By allowing to enter data in ALIAS, we can search the "alias" field. It allowed us to add information that can be EASILY found without having to do a Query that could take several minutes to find what you're looking for and making sure you are using the correct vendor #. See attached for examples of ours. We also use Alias for 1099 purposes, one vendor may want checks payable to dba, while others want checks payable to Corporation or Individual name, we enter the opposite in the Alias field so it doesn't appear on the checks when printed but able to locate when searching for vendor in system. I'm sure others use "Alias" for other things but these are just a few of the reasons why WE use it and it should be a mandatory field in NXT. PLEASE ADD ALIAS FIELD TO NXT! WE WILL LOVE AND STAY WITH YOU FOREVER!! ;)
