Importing directly from within a journal entry batch is much more efficient. It does not require that you assign the batch number to the import file and you can validate as soon as it is imported. In the current system, you have to create the batch, save it, go to your import file, add the batch number, reattach the new file to the import parameter, save and close the parameter, run the parameter and then go back to Journal Entry to open it and validate that it is correct. We should be able to do all of this from within the batch like we can in database view.
Sorry, I meant the lower right hand side of the screen but you apparently cannot edit your own post...
I would also like to add that if the import has issues during validation or import the run box in the lower left hand should NOT show up in green. It should be a different color to alert of issues. It was green so I assumed all was good, then I could not understand why the data was not imported into the batch. Another item of irritation is that I have to actually go through the Next button and wait for the Fields tab to populate before I can save the process. I use the same template over and over so I know the fields are correct, just have a save button on the first tab. You have made this process so time consuming in NXT vs database.
I agree the process should be made simpler like in database. I do prepare my uploads with the batch number however in database you open your import template, choose your file and from that one pop up box you validate and import. The new NXT process is clunky and confusing. You have to choose your file, next. Then review the fields and save. This then takes you out of the template and back to the import list where you now have to click on the satellite dots to Validate your batch. Once validated you have to go back into the template and uncheck Validate and save. However while you are here you will notice the system renamed your template which makes it super confusing as to what you are about to import. So you have to trust that is your file and save. It then takes you out of the template AGAIN and back to the template list. Now I did end up sitting here for quite some time thinking ok when it is going to show me that it is running the import. After a few minutes I thought well this is not right. So I clicked on the satellite dots AGAIN and found the "Run" option. Now why would you change the verbiage here. Just have it say Import if that is where I am in the phase of all the back and forth ridiculousness. Honestly, can you not just have a box open when I click on the template, like in database, that lets me do everything I need to do from the box and when done I close the box? The in and out of the template and the system renaming the file is just confusing.
This is needed especially for importing large amounts of data.
