The utilization of using Custom Field is used extensively when pulling queries and/or running reports. Allowing for this data to be entered through the JE Batch Creator process will be of great value to anyone uploading JE’s which contain thousands of lines of data.
In FE Database, when importing a JE data file, the system would pull data from a Custom Field Table allowing us to utilize this information when pulling queries and/or running reports.
When using the JE Batch Creator for FE NXT this process is not currently available. The needed data must be manually entered after the data has been uploaded to FE NXT. Manual entry is not a feasible option when processing large JE’s such a payroll.
When a payroll JE is imported using FE Database an Employee ID is mapped with an Employee Name which converts to an Employee Description during the import process and shows up in the Payroll Query. For FE NXT this mapping could function similar to how the Project ID and Project description columns work in the current JE Batch Creator. The user would copy information to the Employee ID column fields. A formula in the Employee description column fields, linked to an Employee Table, would display the corresponding employee description which would then be uploaded to FE NXT eliminating the need for manual entry. And the Payroll Query can be used for reporting.
