Excel provides the ability to link to an external database via ODBC drivers. This link would allow for reports to be setup in Excel and updated quickly. The ability to update the formula (which selects Actuals, Original Budget, Adjusted Budget, etc) in one spot and update all (or most or some) columns is one benefit. This would also allow users to create PDF reports and have the organizations letterhead and standard format. I have used other financial software which provides this resource and the benefits and time savings are substantial.
Lovely idea for advanced users. Maybe a feature more easily added to FE? Would be a major time-saver.
